Get R DONE FRIDAY

Today I am taking part in a new MEME called GET R DONE FRIDAY be sure to go to ClassyChassy's blog to see the other items that your friends have been working on.
I want to thank her for hosting this great MEME it helps give me a little push each week to finish projects I've started and a chance to see what others are doing.
Yesterday I posted a blog about a cute chicken Rissa had bought me, you can read about it here.
Today I want to show what I did with the little "henny penny" as Rissa calls her...she loved it and DH said it was sooo me...wonder why, never painted anything like it before...oh wait I may have painted one or two things like it before..lol...Any whoooo.....Remember this?
I spray painted the whole thing black and then just did my own thing...I started by just making comma strokes and then what I call rain drops to make it look like neck and body feathers...
painted the comb and waddle red, added shading with black and high-lited with yellow
The beak was painted yellow and shaded with burnt sennia and high-lited with pale yellow
Don't know where I want to put her yet, but I do believe she is a keeper....NOW...Maybe I'll keep it here to hang my aprons & hot dog griller on...

Chicken little and the shopping trip....

Good morning ladies, can you believe how long it's been since I have posted on here...I think my excuse is called life..it slipped up behind me and knocked me to my knees...DH is finally feeling a little better and my GD is back in Richland, for a week, she is going to Girl Scout Camp this week. She will be back next week for about 3 days, then it's vacation in the Mountains with her Mom and Dad and Nana and Grumppy, then she heads to Johnson City TN for about 3 weeks with her Nana and Grumpy and then back to Richland before school starts...boy I'm tired already thinking about her schedule...lol...8 yr olds are alot better equip to handle it then us old folks are.
I want everyone to know how sweet this little girl is, Last week we went to Pearl to the Flea Market Mall, of course she had her little purse, never goes anywhere without it, I noticed her over in the corner talking to the lady who was running this store....she took her little billfold out and handed the lady some chance....So nosy me, I take off over to where she was and as the lady handed her a bag, she looked up at me and grinned from ear to ear...I just figured she'd bought her Mom something, cause she doesn't go anywhere without looking for something for her Mom...
Look what was in her little bag,
She told me "I know it is pretty ugly like it is, but I know you can make it beautiful, Granny...
How sweet of her to have that much confidence in me....and she even talked the lady down from $1.25 to .75 cents, smart, cute and a wheeler dealer too.....lol....
Well you all know me, I grabbed the can of spray paint as soon as we got home and this is what it looks like now, BUT...... if you know me at all, you know I'm not through yet...just a little teaser...stay tuned for part 2, to see if it looks better or worse.
Hope everyone has a great week...

Hen in Flowers, Trish McMurry pattern...

Hello y'all, I finally found some time to paint...yea me...I didn't have to go to Jackson (Richland) this week so I took advantage of not having to babysit or work on the house. Already had my house clean so...with DH under the weather, with another sick headache and sleeping most of the day, I tried to be real quite...so I headed to my paint room and lookie what I did.
This is one of my most favorite patterns by Trish McMurry ...

I have had this tray for awhile, my DIL's Mom bought me 3 of them at a yard sale last summer while she was down for a visit. The largest of the 3 I painted for her Birthday last year.
This one is a 14" x 10" oval, just perfect.
I started off by spray painting it Black...

Then I transfered the pattern

This is what it should look like after it is tranfered then the painting begins...
This is the finished project. I have painted this pattern at least 25 times on one item or another, but....I have never painted one for ME. This one is mine. It will go in my new black bedroom next to the bed to hold my candy dish.... or what ever I need it for.

New painting and gift for a special little Lady

Our neighbor's little girl, well she's not so little anymore, is having a baby in 5 week. I decided I wanted to give her something special since she is so special to me. She grow up with my BB and was his best friend. As a matter of fact, I think she was the only child I met that was a tad meaner then him, she was appropriately named the Boss, and her DH says she's still the Boss...lol..her older sister (2 yrs older) and she lived at my house most of the time until they reach those teen years where kids go there own ways she went to Brookhaven school and BB went to Loyd Star...they remained friends but didn't run around together different schools different crowds. But any how that's live. They are still friends she just loves BB wife, they went to Co-Lin together. Christy is the little dark hair girl on the left.

Anyhow I found an old baby bottle sterilizer and since she was having a little girl...yes they told her it was a girl, room painted pink, green and brown, clothes bought, everything pretty an pink, sterilizer base coated pink......wrong, they did a 3-D sonogram and it's a boy, she even got to see the water works...lol...mad dash to repaint everything. Including the sterilizer, I am fixing it as a little storage container to hold the baby's bath accessories which I am filling it up with.

I had to respray the pot, I forgot to take a before picture. Was trying to get it finished before the rain started Sat. I spray paint out side and the damp air is not good on it's drying right. I painted the inside brown, since her colors are NOW blue, green, and brown.

I painted the handles & knob on the top brown I also painted polka dots on it and then painted a Ladybug pattern called Hush Baby.
I painted the little angel in green and white, so I think I got all of her colors in it. The only thing I like is spraying it with clear sealer, but I have to wait till I can get outside to spray it. I hope she likes it. I think it is a perfect place to store bath stuff to keep it close by and still look good.
Ok, What do you think,. Thanks for coming by to check it out. All comments are appricated, I love to hear what you think.

Need a little help from my friends

Good Morning America, hey it's TAX Day.....didn't take me long to figure mine, simply put down how much I earned, how much I'd already had deduced from SS, wrote a check for what I had left and sent it in...simple right.....OK, got that off my chest now to other matters,
I found the cutest coaster set, Monday and can't decide what to paint on it. Should I paint it for the kitchen or the living room. Here are the pictures. I like the pattern on the top and think it would look good with a prim design, but also think they would look good painted red and roosters added on
them........
.
Of course, the natural wood has got to go...what is your suggestion.

I'm still around...

I just wanted to drop by and say, sorry I haven't posted anything new, I am still not up to snuff from this tooth, it still hurts and the meds keep me lulled down, not really in the mood to paint., I am so tired of eating jello and soup and ice cream, that I am ready to scream...DH went to our favorite rib shack today and got him a rack of ribs...ohhh, I love ribs..I am so desperate I even thought about putting some in the blender...lol..probably wouldn't have the same taste. But it don't look like I'll be eating much better for the next couple of weeks...Drat and Easter just a week away...I go back to have another one cut out Thurs....THURSDAY 2 days before Easter oh, how can anyone be that mean, Bad Dr..Bad Dr. ...Bad tooth, bad.....lol...I'd rather laugh then cry...
But Praise God I finally have an appointment with my Endocrinologist Monday morning at 10:30. This is the Dr that has rescheduled my appointment the last 3 appointment. I told the Nurse when she called that if I'm cancelled and rescheduled 1 more time I'm out of here to another Dr. She wanted me to come in Next Fri. but I told her I had to have a tooth cut out Thurs and didn't know if I would be up to driving 2 hrs and sitting in his office for lord only knows how long, the very next day. So she looked and found this one for Monday. Y'all wish me luck and pray that all is well and he finds out why I am having so much trouble. Will post pictures when I finish my block.
good night all and Good Bless

Glass block and Chickens

This evening, I'm feeling a little better, but still not allowed by DH to get up and do anything, so I decided to paint a little, I had finished the painting on this Sunday night or should I say Monday morning. Couldn't sleep wondering what the Dentist was going to do....
This is a oblong glass block I found when I went Junkin' with my Sis in Clinton several months ago
It had one end cut complete out, instead of just a hole drilled in it for a light fixture, I couldn't figure out why until I started cleaning it up and realized someone had used it for a mini fish tank, probably for a Beta Fighting Fish. But any how I think instead of using a plug in type fixture I am going to use a battery powered string of lights in it. I'll cover up the hole like this.
I decided to make this 2 sided where for everyday you could use one side and then this Winter you can turn it around and use the other side. I painted my white Hen and Rooster on the first side and put a red and white checked ribbon around it.
Now isn't this the cutest thing, just imagine this on a small table in your Breakfast room or on the bar in your kitchen or even your den...
OK, I'll surprise you with the other side when I finish it.

Repeat on how to add design to soaps

This is a copy of a post I did when I first started bloggin, several people have emailed me asking how I did my soaps so I thought I would repost it here on my painting blog...
Posted Jan. 6, 2009
Since the Holidays have passed I know a lot of you are looking for something new to craft, Here are the directions for the way I do my soaps...in case anyone else is interested too. This is a recipe that a friend on anotherboard gave me, she said her mother gave it to her. Thanks Linda....These make such cute and personal gifts. I have used pictures of my family and friends also used items I had painted, by printing them out and using them.
This is a picture of the Seniors on My Grandson's Baseball team last year. I made each one of them a soap for their little happy and remembence of the team.

The second one is Keifer and his Dad 18 yrs ago. Keifer gave it to his dad for Father's Day this year.

Morgan gave these to her teachers as end of year gifts

This is a print of my art work

Sample of the handpainted soaps
Frist....DO NOT.... use Ivory soap. It has too much lotion in it andis too soft. Just won't last, (I learned the hard way).. I only use Pure and Natural. I use canning wax on the soaps. Clean the bar with alcohol, then dip the tops, in about 1/4 in. deep hot wax. I use an old shallow skillet for this--something with low sides, and use a pair of tongs to hold the soap.when the wax is set, in about 5-6 hours (dries sooner but it is recommended to let wax sit that long), add coat of Modge Podge, then add your decal or picture let dry, another coat of Modge Podge, and finish with another coat of wax. If using a picture that you print on your printer it is recommended that you spray with a clear sealer and let dry for 3-4 hrs or over night or the modge podge will cause the ink to bleed. I would print out my pictures, spray them and then do my dipping that way they are ready at the same time. Be sure to size your print to the size of the soap bar before printing. I also do my handpainted this way... follow the same steps as if you were going to add prints, but after adding modge podge and letting it dry good, you can start painting on your design, may take a couple of coats of paint, let dry between each coat. I usually paint a solid base coat over whole top of soap then paint design on that....when paint is totally dry coat with modge podge again. Let dry then dip in wax, BUT do not let it stay in wax too long and do not dip more than once or your paint might just melt off. I usually dip about 12 bars at a time, that way when I need a gift in a hurry I have the prep work done and all I have to do is add art work.Get the wax at the grocery store. I find it on the isle with the candymaking supplies. Or with the canning supplies. There is a method of painting soap that doesn't call for wax. I have justcleaned the soaps good with alcohol and sealed it with clear spray sealer and then paint your design, when dry, seal again with clear sealer.
The wax and modge podge makes it easier to use if you wanted to.... and protects the paint better. Place in clear bag and tie with ribbon or string, add gift tag with instuctions on how to use. Soap is usable if used from the bottom up. Do not leave setting in water. Wet and rub soap on rag. Decal will last till soap is gone.

Yay...I'm so excited

Well, as most of you know I finally started painting again. I listed a breadbox on Ebay and just a short time later I check and I already have a bid, now great is that. It's only 1 bid right now but I do have 3 watchers and 6 days to go. Hopefully it will go up more. If not at least someone liked it.
Today I'm headed to the Dentist, broke a tooth of last night, gads, it already had a crown on it. How does that happen, I thought crowns were suppose to protect it from breaking?
I started working on a block light night. Will show you when it is finished.....I will say it is going to be 2-faced.
Later y'all have a great day.

Here's a video on how to draw....

Thanks to Tammy at http://www.mississippihandpaintedkeepsakes.com/ for telling me about it...

What I'm working on right now

Last year when DH and I were looking around the State...we love to just get in the car, choose a direction and just drive and "look" around the state if we see something or some place that looks interesting, we will stop and check it out. Well last year we ran across and old barn like Flea Market, kind of junky if you know what I mean, and it made my heart jump with joy...lol...my kind of place to look for those special little treasure nobody else wants.
I found an old tin breadbox, that I have to admit looked like it had seen it's best days. I had a picture of it, but have misplaced it over the year. Computer has crashed 2 times, love the lightening in the south.
But anyways take my word for it, it was not good. DH used his sandblaster and got all of the rust of and most of the loose paint. I spray painted it white, trimmed it in red and painted my own design of a Hen and Rooster Couple on the front. I haven't finished it yet I plan to stencil BREAD on the top, hand shakes too much to just try and print it...ahhh old age...lol...
When I finish it I will be listing in on EBay. I have a lot of luck and good followers on my Chicken stuff at Ebay.
